Karen Petty is an Associate of EquiPro International and
a business writer/editor and communications consultant specializing
in human resources and organizational development. She has
particular expertise in management training and development,
executive education, and employee benefits/compensation
programs.
As an independent consultant since 1987, Karen has worked
with companies diverse in size and industry on a wide range
of corporate communications and business publications. Representative
projects include magazine, e-zine and newsletter articles
on various management and business topics; employee benefits/compensation
guides; organizational policy and procedure manuals; job
surveys and performance evaluations; training materials;
career and education-related reference books; market research
studies; and marketing/promotional literature.
A highlight of her career was serving as editor of Executive
Directions, a business magazine reporting on trends
and activities in management development and executive education.
The launch magazine was directed to a global audience of
corporate managers responsible for and/or participating
in developmental initiatives, along with consultants and
educators in the field. She also served as personal editor
for the books World-Class Teams
by Nolan Brawley, Lynda McDermott and William Waite (John
Wiley 1998) and Caught In The Middle:
How To Survive and Thrive in Today's Management Squeeze
by Lynda McDermott (Prentice-Hall, 1992).
Karen began her career as a writer/editor for Taylor Management
Centers in Boulder, Colorado. Her primary role was to prepare
comprehensive reports documenting key information and outcomes
from customized client workshops on strategic planning,
organizational development and change management. After
relocating to New York City in 1983, she joined a human
resources consulting firm, Corporate Resources, Inc., as
a communications consultant. She initiated the firm's employee
communications practice, maintaining responsibility for
project management and client relations in that practice
area.
Karen holds a BA degree in English, with distinction, Phi
Beta Kappa, from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
